For Lonna's 3rd birthday party she wanted to spend the day at the Zoo.  We had 18 people show up to the zoo to celebrate her birthday with us. My mom and dad, my grandpa and Eileen, my uncle Terry and Aunt Laura and my cousins, and our really good friends the Thomas family that babysit the kids on a regular basis. It was so fun to have every one there together at the same time. We started out the day by having a big picnic lunch, cup cakes and presents and then we were off to see all of the fun animals. We spent several hours going from exhibit to exhibit and enjoying the different things that we were finding. The Biggest hits of the day were definitely the polar bear and the tiger. The other big entertainment of the day was riding the carousel several times while we were there. It ended up being the funnest party we have had for her yet.

School Shopping

Lonna and Josh riding around in the shopping cart
We spent the afternoon today shopping for new school clothes for Lauren and Lonna since they are both getting ready to start a new school year. Lauren loves to shop and runs to each thing and finds her size and insists that she needs it and everything else that she has picked out. Lonna and Josh spent the time riding around in the shopping cart.

The Zoo

The Zoo

we love elephants
Yesterday we went on our first outing to the zoo this year. Lauren and Lonna loved running around to the different animals. Lauren said that everything was either adorable or so cute. The big favorite was the little orange monkeys. Lonna thought that everything that was little (ie the monkeys) were kittys. Josh just spent the day riding around on mommy. The girls both love to ride the casserole that they have there. Lonna choose to ride one of her favorites the Zebra, but Lauren insisted on riding  the praying maintenance even though it was really ugly. One of the biggest highlights of the day were all of the baby geese that were walking around the zoo they were so cute.

The Easter bunny came to our house and brought the kids eater baskets and hid a bunch of treat filled eggs for them to find. They had a lot of fun getting all of the new toys.  They really had fun looking for the hidden eggs that was defiantly the highlight of the day.

Coloring Easter Eggs

 Coloring Easter Eggs
This year we colored Easter Eggs at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Lauren loved to color the Easter eggs. She took so much time with each one making it look just right. Her favorite thing to do with them was to put smile faces on them with rhinestones. Lonna helped color the eggs but quickly lost interest and just wanted to play with the toys. Grandpa had fun helping Lauren and Lonna color eggs while grandma sat back and held baby Josh.

MY FAMILY

So I thought I would start off by telling you a little bit about my family. I met my husband Tim, at BYU Idaho. The summer after I graduated from high school I started at BYUI,  I met Tim that first weekend we were there and we were engaged by the end of that summer. We were married a year later on September 1, 2005. That next spring I found out that I was pregnant with our first child. We were so happy to welcome a beautiful baby girl, Lauren Nichole Slack, on February 1, 2007, into our family. After a lot of prerequisite courses and working as a CNA for several year I finally got accepted into nursing school at Salt Lake Community College and started in August of 2008. Nursing school was the hardest time in my life, but it was also so much fun. I learned so much and was challenged everyday. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but also the most rewarding and has made the biggest difference in our lives. Half way through I was again blessed with another beautiful baby girl, Lonna Lorraine Slack, on September 16, 2009. I graduated from nursing school in August 2010 and went to work at Hillside Rehabilitation. I am still working at Hillside, I love the people there and I love being around and working with our elders. Last summer Tim went through the POST program at Salt Lake Community college and is now certified as a Law enforcement officer, we are just waiting for him to get hired by a city. While he was in POST we found out that we were expecting our third child, Joshua William Slack was born February 28, 2012. That is story on my family thus far.
